Mariners Game #85 Preview and Discussion, 6/28/26: SEA at CLE

A three-run homer from Randy Arozarena wasn’t enough for the M’s to overcome the Guardians last night, but they’ll look to both clinch the season series against Cleveland today and avoid setting a franchise record for consecutive games of scoring three or fewer runs. Lineups: Dominic Canzone unsurprisingly has the day off due to his […]

Mariners News: Kade Anderson, Jacob Misiorowski, and Tim Lincecum

Happy Sunday everybody! I’m back! I sincerely hope that I bring some offense with me. Time will tell, as it so often does. The Mariners offense continues to spurt and sputter as it has now been THIRTEEN days since the team has scored more than three runs in a game. One way or another, the […]

Mariners lose 4-3 to Guardians, fail to find answers to life’s ultimate questions

The Mariners lost to the Guardians, 4-3, and are now 42-42 on the season. I am not a particular Douglas Adams fan but read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy as a middle-schooler, as one does, so I could understand my older cousins’ inside jokes. 42, of course, is the answer to ultimate question of […]

Mariners Game #84 Preview and Discussion, 6/27/26: SEA at CLE

While the Mariners’ streak of scoring three or fewer runs didn’t end last night, they were able to pull out a win against the Guardians on their home turf. Another win would clinch the season series, so it would behoove the M’s to continue their winning ways – but maybe with some more runs this […]

Mariners shuffle their bullpen pile & rotation/piggyback plans

The Seattle Mariners made a move in their shallow bullpen, optioning RHP Alex Hoppe to Triple-A Tacoma and recalling LHP Josh Simpson from the Rainiers. The move comes in front of two more games with the Cleveland Guardians, whose lineup is incredibly lefty-heavy. It’s the easiest to understand reasoning behind the move for the M’s, […]

First things worst – the Mariners’ trouble with the first pitch

The Seattle Mariners are struggling offensively. Yes, their team wRC+ is around league-average. Yes, they are finally running nearly their entire full healthy lineup out for the first time all season (save Bringo Dingo, may your groin heal in peace). But Seattle entered Saturday 25th in MLB in runs per game at 4.02, a 651 […]

Mariners News: Perry Minasian, Carlos Mendoza, and Mike Trout

Good day fellow Mariners fans, and happy Saturday! The M’s still haven’t scored 4 runs in a game, but they won anyway in the series opener against the Guardians last night by a 3-1 final. Between Cole Young and Colt Emerson, it’s been a road trip of fantastic homecomings. Who’s your pick to click tonight […]

Weekend Listen: PNW Bosnian community celebrates the World Cup, tiny forests are sprouting up in WA, and citizen scientists are counting pikas in the Columbia River Gorge.

Today, we’re bringing you the best from newsrooms throughout the Northwest. Bosnia and Herzegovina fans celebrated as their national soccer team made history in Seattle this week. The country made it the furthest they’ve been in the World Cup. Northwest News Network contributor Grace Madigan has more about what it means to the Bosnian community in the Northwest. Tiny, pocket forests are sprouting up all around Washington state. On old, abandoned fields and in people’s backyards. These forests are meant to mimic nature and to grow quickly. It also helps increase biodiversity. NWPB’s Courtney Flatt takes us to one of the Yakama Nation’s mini-forests. American pikas are an ’indicator species.’ If they’re doing OK, there’s a good chance the local ecosystem is doing OK. That’s one reason why the Oregon Zoo and other groups are looking for people this summer to go out and count pikas. OPB’s Kristian Foden-Vencil has the story. Cantillo’s curveball not enough for Cleveland, M’s win 3-1

Despite the Mariners winning this afternoon’s game against the Guardians, the big story was a standout performance from Cleveland’s starter, Joey Cantillo, and his newfound love of the curveball. The curveball’s fallen out of fashion in MLB lately. Just 8.2% of the pitches this season have been big benders, the second-lowest since 2008, despite the […]
